“Adorable, but what the hell is it?”  you might ask yourself.  Well, ladies and gentlemen, this is a Tenrecidae (or short Tenrec).  It’s a mammal found in Madagascar (did they have one in the movie?) and Africa.  The species can  range from a body length of around 4.5 cm, and weighing just 5 grams to 39 cm in length and weighing over a kilogram. (For those unfamiliar with the metric system you can get more information here.)  They look like a mix between hedgehogs, shrews, opossums, mice and otters; but are actually related to golden moles or elephant shrews.  As diverse as their size is their look:  They range from looking like a
