Buffalo, NY (WGRZ) – Buffalo Police officers weren’t expecting what they saw when they opened the trunk of Gary L. Korkuc’s vehicle Monday, on the 1100 block of Broadway. But the routine traffic stop led them to something much more disturbing. According to Buffalo Police, they found ’Navarro,’ a 4-year-old black and white cat, literally marinating in a mixture of crushed red peppers, chili pepper, salt and oil. 51-year-old Korkuc, of Cheektowaga, told police he was marinating the cat because he was planning on making a meal of it because he thought it was ”mean, greedy and wasteful.”
Korkuc was arrested on one count of cruelty to animals and charged with passing a stop sign and failure to signal. He was later released on an appearance ticket.
The SPCA tells 2-On-Your-Side the cat was otherwise in good condition, but needed several baths to remove the oil and spices. SPCA officials also say Korkuc had just adopted the cat from them back in May, but showed no signs of being an abusive pet owner.
