Mel Gibson and Jodie Foster are working on The Beaver movie – it’s not what you think!
The first thought that comes to mind when one sees the film title The Beaver, is “oh no, they’re not making yet another old tv show into a film, are they?” But to everyone’s surprise, The Beaver has nothing to do with “the beav”. The movie is about a man who “wears a beaver puppet on his hand that he treats as a real person. Those familiar with the script have compared it to “Lars and the Real Girl” and the work of Charlie Kaufman” says the Hollywood Reporter. Jodie Foster is directing and co-star as the beaver-handed Mel Gibson’s wife. The script was at the top of last year’s blacklist of unproduced screenplays that should have been been made into a feature film due to the creativity of the writing. An interesting fact is that the lead puppet wearing character of Walter Black was originally going to be played by Steve Carell. Walter’s hand puppet is a chatty British rodent and Walter’s personality is transformed as a result of wearing it. This is similar to the horror film starring Sir Anthony Hopkins, Magic, in which he was a ventriloquist who was changed into a paranoid killer by the wooden companion.
Sounds like a movie I need to see.
